Self-levelling compound is used to ensure the concrete subfloor is flat and level throughout. The sub-floor is also sealed with a liquid membrane to prevent moisture from the concrete damaging the flooring.
Laying Out the Joints
To ensure the viewlines of the completed floor are in line with the walls, a reference line is used and back-measured so that a full board runs true down the centre of the access hallway.

The completed floor in the main living area with skirting boards fitted over the floor to avoid the use of scotia strips and to provide a sleek finished look.
Utility Room
The floor is laid in one continuous run through the entrance hallway, kitchen/diner, utility room and downstairs toilet so that no thresh bars are required under doorways and to provide a smooth and flat transition between rooms.
